Austria: Snow Report 10/03/16

More snow expected at the weekend for Austrian ski resorts

Further snow expected today across a number of Austrian ski resorts will continue March’s current trend for higher-than-average levels.

Relatively heavy snow was reported across several resorts last weekend and of those areas with the deepest snow at present, Pitztal, Pitztaler Gletscher, Sölden, Hintertux and St. Anton am Arlberg, all are expected to receive at least an additional 1cm of snow over the next 48 hours. Conditions are currently excellent in most of the open resorts – Zahmer Kaiser having the least deep snow at 15cm and Zugspitz Arena having 380cm, considerably above the levels seen in March 2015, and depths of 200cm+ have been reported in a large number of areas.

Pitzal in particular is expected to receive between 7 and 38cm within the next 7 days, so while conditions are currently perfect this could change due to a sudden influx of fresh or powdery snow.

Hope you can get out there while the going’s good!
